Projects > You Call It A Cloud

2014

You Call It A Cloud is a public art project that has two main components. For the first part, I interviewed people whose occupations keep them them in close contact with the sky about one particular photograph of a lenticular cloud that my mother took. I went back to the area where the photograph was taken and spoke with pilots, flight mechanics, a meteorologist, an environmentalist, a rancher, a micro-climatologist, a historian, and a retired philosophy professor. Each of them provided a different “read” of Joie’s image.

Under the assumption that everyone has a cloud story, for the second part of the project, I interviewed regular folks and collected their “cloud stories.”
