PUBLICATIONS > Ancestor Bulletin

Ancestor Bulletin is a short-form, mail-order publication documenting my creative practice and research about and with the Mackinac (Island) Band of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians. It is organized around five main topics: water, island, family, history, and institution.

Shortlisted for the 2022 Creative Capital Award, Ancestor Bulletin has received support from the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, the Good Hart artist residency, the Croft Residency and the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, the Huron Mountain Wildlife Foundation, and several units at Vanderbilt University including the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for the Digital Humanities, RAMP, and the Curb Center Creative Inquiry Grant.

There are several ways to engage with Ancestor Bulletin. To receive an occasional (free) bulletin in the mail, please send your name and address to ancestorbulletin@gmail.com, the black and white limited edition book is $100, and the risograph special edition is $400.

The limited edition books and special edition boxed sets are available through Ziehersmith Gallery and a percentage of proceeds will go to Mackinac Bands legal fund supporting our continued struggle for federal recognition.
