Performance Preparation
In preparation for Resonance of the Water: La Laguna, I traveled throughout the Veneto to meet the rivers that currently feed or historically fed into the Venice Lagoon. My journey traced these waterways from their sources: the Brenta and Piave Rivers in the Dolomites, the Bacchiglione in the Euganean Hills, the Sile, Zero, and Dese in the Veneto flatlands, and finally the Adige and Po Rivers at the Po River Delta. At each site, I put down tobacco as an offering, made introductions, and asked permission from each river to return a bit of them to the Lagoon during the performance.
